I Can't Find The Words To Say

from BERLIN: The Sonic Diary of Onyx Ashanti (2008) by Onyx Ashanti

about

10-4-08 I don't know what happened this week. I was literally HUNGRY for 80's music and sounds. i was bopping around all week on a high syrupy sweet sticky funk, slow jams, hip hop and new jack swing. so i pull up the M1 and went trolling for sounds.

For those who dont know, the M1 is THE synth of that era. if you were alive in the late 80's til now, you've heard the M1 in a million RnB songs, slow jams, and house tracks (that piano sound) so if you listen to this track carefully, you will, if you are old enough, recognize some of the sounds, but in a totally new context.

special thanks to Teddy Riley for creating new Jack Swing and doing that first keith sweat album (which enabled a few firsts in my life). and thanks to Bobby brown for having that brief moment in time where you were actually cool, you know...before you became a crackhead and all.
